Briana Vargas joined Kishner Miller Himes in August 2018, after graduating from St. John’s University School of Law. While in law school, Ms. Vargas received an award for excellence in trial advocacy, as well as a scholarship award from the Latino Lawyers Association of Queens County in recognition for her pro bono work during school. Ms. Vargas was admitted in New York in 2019.
Ms. Vargas is fluent in Spanish and conversational in Portuguese. Outside of the office, Ms. Vargas enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her dog Louis. Briana also loves languages, music and dancing.
During her time at Kishner Miller Himes, Ms. Vargas has represented the firm’s clients at all stages of litigation, which has included drafting pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses. She has assisted on multiple trials, contributing to the trial presentations and post-trial proceedings. She has also participated in KMH’s representation of a claimant in a high-stakes arbitration.
On the transactional side of the firm’s practice, Ms. Vargas has assisted clients in purchasing, selling, financing and refinancing commercial and residential properties. She has participated in preparing documents in complex commercial and residential transactions, and had a major role in successfully guiding a condominium through the process of obtaining a “no action” letter from the New York State Attorney General’s Office. Ms. Vargas has also advised clients on forming various business entities. She has drafted offering plans, leases and various kinds of commercial contracts.
