Monica Chawla Biography

Monica joined Kishner Miller Himes P.C. as an associate in February 2022. Prior to joining the firm, Monica began her legal career at Silverman Shin & Byrne PLLC, where she was in the firm’s litigation department.

Monica represents clients in state and federal court at all levels of litigation in a variety of disputes, including complex commercial litigation, business litigation and real estate litigation. Over the course of her career, Monica has litigated matters involving tortious conduct, real property disputes, first-party property damage, automotive, construction and professional liability. Monica’s practice also includes representing clients in real estate and business transactions.

Monica received her Juris Doctor from Touro Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2019, graduating as the Valedictorian of her class. During law school, Monica was an Honors Program Scholar, and a senior editor of the Touro Law Review. She was President of the Intellectual Property Law Society as well as President of the International Refugee Assistance Project. In 2019, Monica received the Alumni Association Academic Achievement Award for providing an exceptional level of service to the Law Center and serving as a role model for graduating students. She was also the recipient of the Exemplary Dedication to the Advancement of Equality and Immigrant Rights Award, the Exemplary Contributions to the Quality of Student Life Award and several CALI Excellence awards.

Monica attended Hunter College and received her B.A. in Biology with a minor in Political Science. Monica is a member of the New York Bar Association as well as the Defense Association of New York. She is fluent in Italian, Hindi, Punjabi and moderate Spanish.
